What We Offer

VDAC’s in-mold graining and thermoforming seamlessly combine texture and molding, enhancing efficiency, durability, and visual refinement in one process.

In-Mold Graining (IMG) and In-Mold Thermoforming (IMT) are innovative surface-finishing techniques that allow the direct integration of textured or decorative foils into plastic components during the injection molding process. In IMG, a grain pattern is embossed onto a foil skin during thermoforming inside the mold. The upper mold shell, engineered with breathable features, enables the foil to be precisely shaped under vacuum and heat, capturing fine texture details. This pre-formed skin is then overmolded with plastic, creating a highly durable and visually refined component in a single process.

At VDAC, we bring advanced capabilities in both in-mold graining and in-mold thermoforming, combining expert mold design, precise foil handling, and integrated forming and molding technologies. Our system supports seamless foil alignment, consistent grain definition, and optional techniques like back-foaming, back-pressing, or back-injection molding for complex part requirements. This end-to-end process control enables us to deliver highly functional, visually striking components with reduced manufacturing steps—ideal for interior trims, dashboards, control panels, and consumer product housings.

The benefits of IMG and IMT go far beyond aesthetics. By combining forming and molding in a single cycle, VDAC helps reduce production time, eliminate separate trimming and thermoforming stages, and minimize labor and handling. This not only improves production efficiency but also reduces waste and optimizes material use, supporting more sustainable manufacturing. In addition, the strong adhesion between the substrate and foil improves part durability and resistance to wear. With VDAC’s integrated solution, clients gain a competitive edge through cost-effective, scalable, and high-performance decorative plastic components.
